Impounded Vehicle Information
After-Hours Service: Available only for vehicles impounded by the Des Moines Police Department (DMPD) or the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
If you need to retrieve personal belongings from your vehicle without releasing it, please visit during the following times:
Polk County Sheriff’s Office Impounds
If your vehicle was impounded by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, please bring the following items to have your vehicle released:
- Registered Owner Present: The registered owner must be present to claim the vehicle. If the registered owner is not able to be present you must fill out the "Vehicle Releases Authorization" form.
- Valid Photo I.D.: A government-issued ID is required.
- Payment: Accepted forms of payment are cash or credit card. The credit card must be in the same name as the photo ID presented.

Des Moines Police Department (DMPD) Impounds
If your vehicle was impounded by the Des Moines Police Department, please bring the following items when claiming your vehicle:
- Registered Owner Present: The registered owner must be present to release the vehicle. If the registered owner is not able to be present you must fill out the "Vehicle Releases Authorization" form.

Crow Tow accepts the following forms of payment for all private property impounds, Iowa State Patrol impounds, Des Moines Police Department impounds, and Polk County Sheriff’s Office impounds:

Credit Card — must be presented in person by the cardholder with a valid photo ID that matches the name on the card.

Credit Card Processing Fee: A processing fee may apply to all credit card transactions.

We do not accept payments over the phone.

All payments must be made in person at the impound lot during regular release hours.
